The Economy is at the core of many issues such as climate change, rising inequality, financial instability, biodiversity loss, increasingly precarious and stressful working lives, growing power concentrations, and resource depletion.. As a result there is a growing recognition that our economy has to be fundamentally reformed to solve these problems. This has led various thinkers and institutions, such as the OECD, to argue we are currently experiencing a paradigm shift away from neoliberalism and the focus on (GDP) growth.
De economie vormt de kern van veel problemen zoals klimaatverandering, toenemende ongelijkheid, financiële instabiliteit, verlies aan biodiversiteit, steeds precairere en stressvollere arbeidslevens, toenemende machtsconcentraties en uitputting van hulpbronnen. Als gevolg hiervan is er een groeiend besef dat onze economie moet fundamenteel worden hervormd om deze problemen op te lossen. Dit heeft ertoe geleid dat verschillende denkers en instellingen, zoals de OESO, beweren dat we momenteel een paradigmaverschuiving meemaken, weg van het neoliberalisme en de focus op (bbp-)groei.
